How to sign up for Power Outage Alerts through Southern California Edison (SCE)

Power outages can occur year-round and unexpectedly, disrupting daily life. Luckily, Southern California Edison (SCE) provides a service for individuals in the area to be informed about outages by receiving message alerts via email, voice message, and/or text message. These notifications provide updates in real time such as if an outage is scheduled, rescheduled, or canceled. Live updates help individuals be better prepared for power outages in their community. Sign up for alerts in just a few simple steps.

Step 1: Register Your Account

  • Go to sce.com in top right corner locate Log in/Register and register your account.

Step 2: Verify Your Account and Update Contact Information

  • Verify your account using an existing phone number on file.
  • Log in and update your contact information.

Step 3: Set Up Outage Alerts

  • Click on “My Account” to access your account settings.
  • Within the “My Account” section, look for an option or link that says “Preference Center”
  • Inside the “Preference Center” section, locate “Outage Alert ” and click on it
  • Navigate to “Emergency Alerts” – click on it.

Step 4: Choose Notification Methods

  • Select your preferred notification methods: email, voice message, and/or text message you will have a limit of 3 contacts for each section.
  • Turn on Outage Alerts
  • You will be redirected to digitally sign “Terms and Conditions”

Step 5: Save Your Preferences

  • Review your notification preferences to ensure they’re accurate.
  • Click “Save” to confirm your choices.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully set up power outage alerts with SCE. You’ll now receive timely notifications in case of any disruptions to your power supply. Remember to periodically review and update your notification preferences to ensure they continue to meet your needs.
