Ability Tools Mission Statement
Ability Tools connects Californians with disabilities to assistive technology devices, tools and services to make life easier!
Our Services
Ability Tools is California’s Assistive Technology Act Program. We provide a variety of services for Californians with disabilities of all ages.
Our services include:
- Connecting people with the AT Advocate at their local Independent Living Center (ILC)
- Information & Referral/Assistance
- Device Lending and Demonstration Centers (DLDCs)
- Assistive Technology Reuse Centers (ATRCs)
- The Keep the Wheels Rolling Repair Fund
- Training on Assistive Technology
- Technical Assistance to entities working to make their spaces or products accessible to everyone
- AT related Communities of Practice
- And so much more!
Ability Tools offers FREE membership to anyone interested in learning more about AT and looking to connect with other like-minded individuals via the Ability Tools Groups.io. If you are interested in joining, send an email to our team will get you set up!
Ability Tools is made possible through funding from the Department of Rehabilitation, financed by the U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration with funds allocated by the The 21st Century Assistive Technology Act (PDF Document).
Communities of Practice (CoP)
Connect with assistive technology professionals, Independent Living Centers, community partners, reuse programs, and advocates across California through Ability Tools Communities of Practice. These collaboratives are designed to encourage resource sharing, peer support, statewide coordination, and ongoing learning related to assistive technology services and programs.
Whether you are new to assistive technology or a long-time partner in the field, our Communities of Practice offer opportunities to stay informed, exchange ideas, discuss challenges, and learn about emerging tools, programs, and best practices happening throughout California.
