\"3<\/a>On June 13, 2017, people with disabilities from all over California will gather for Disability Capitol Action Day (DCAD)<\/strong>, one of the nation’s largest cross-disability events.Disability Capitol Action Day is an annual event coordinated by The Disability Action Coalition as an opportunity for people of cross disabilities, their families and allies to come together in solidarity to learn about disability community resources, become educated on potential policies that could impact our daily lives and collaborate with our fellow disability community members to educate policy makers on the issues we care about most. DCAD is one of the nation’s largest cross disability days of unity.\u00a0The Disability Action Coalition is\u00a0a coalition of over 40 disability rights organizations and allies, with logistical support from California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC).<\/p>\n

In response to the threats to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), this year\u2019s theme is, \u201cKeep California Healthy,\u201d and the focus is on health care programs and services that most directly affect persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n

\"two<\/a>\u201cDisability access means access for everyone,\u201d said CFILC Executive Director Teresa Favuzzi. \u201cThis is the one day of the year when people with disabilities from all over the state with all types of disabilities come together and have our voices heard.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year thousands of people will come together in unity for DCAD. Activities will begin at Cesar E. Chavez Plaza in Downtown Sacramento and will continue to the South side of the State Capitol for announcements and legislative visits.<\/p>\n

Participants will have the chance to honor the champions of the disability rights movement and motivate our future leaders with disabilities.<\/p>\n

In 2015, over 2,000 Californians with disabilities and their allies came together to celebrate community and advocate for themselves at the State Capitol in commemoration of the 25th<\/sup> anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.<\/p>\n
