Celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Happy NDEAM! We’re celebrating all over California!

Every year, October commemorates National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), which celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents.

This year, the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers (CFILC) has teamed up with the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) and the California State Independent Living Council (SILC) to highlight California workers with disabilities and organizations that employ them. Check out the California NDEAM Facebook posts.

This year the US Department of Labor’s theme for NDEAM is “The Right Talent, Right Now.” The theme “emphasizes the essential role people with disabilities play in America’s economic success, especially in an era when historically low unemployment and global competition are creating a high demand for skilled talent.” Read the news release.
